Consumer Reports..ordering a credit report for employment, etc?

I am currently unemployed, and have been applying to several companies which all seem to order my credit in part of completing the application process. Since I am unemployed, I am also searching for ways to reduce my expenses, one is shopping for the best insurance rates in which my credit again will be ordered/used. Is all this credit ordering hurting my score? What can I do? And why is this still legal at a time like this?

It is not hurting your score. If you were applying for a lot of loans, it would be hurting your score. Even if you didn’t get them.
